Highlights
I focus my investigations in modern human populations studying their current genetic composition in order to:
- Infer the possible genetic changes resulted from the evolutionary processes.
- Determine the populations’ subdivisions and/or sub-structure originated by different factors.
The genetic markers used to characterize the human populations were the monoparental markers:
- The non-recombining portion of the Y chromosome (NRY) in male lineages
- The mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) in female lineages.
The current genetic variation detected in actual populations is tested against empirical data showing some interesting events in the history of human populations, dating the ancestors of female and male lineages, reconstructing the migratory movements from the “out of Africa” event since present times, integrating develops from other sciences as Archaeology, Linguistic, Toponomy among others.
