Short CV

I graduated in Biology in 2016 and earned a master's degree in Forensic Genetics in 2018, both at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto. I am a co-author of two peer-reviewed papers published in international journals. During my master's in Forensic Genetics, I developed molecular biology skills at the laboratory level, including DNA amplification by PCR, evaluation of changes in gene expression by quantitative PCR, and sequencing by the Sanger method. To complement my wet-lab knowledge, I have completed two post-graduate level degrees in biostatistics and bioinformatics. Currently, I am working on my doctoral thesis titled 'Exposome Investigation in São Miguel (Azores): Testing the Effects of Volcanic Pollution on Oral Cancer Risk.' My primary goal is to enhance my competences in high-throughput technologies and bioinformatics analyses, applying these skills to evaluate human diversity and elucidate interactions between the genome and environmental pressures.
