Short CV

Sara Peixoto da Silva holds a BSc degree in Genetics and Biotechnology from the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (completed in 2017). During her final year, she did her curricular internship entitled "Identification of painting probes of domestic pig (Sus scrofa) and karyotype analysis" at the Laboratory of Animal Cytogenomics and Genomics of the Department of Genetics and Biotechnology at UTAD. In november 2019, she concluded her MSc degree in Molecular Medicine and Oncology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto. She conducted her master's dissertation entitled "Expression of let-7b, miR-21 and miR-301a in HPV-induced carcinogenesis and cancer cachexia: studies in K14-HPV16 transgenic mice" in the Molecular Oncology and Viral Pathology Group at the Research Center of the Portuguese Oncology Institute of Porto (IPO-Porto).
From December 2019 until September 2021, Sara worked as a Scientific Research Fellow on the project "Biomarkers for minimal residual disease", under the supervision of Dr. Rui Bergantim and Professor Doctor M. Helena Vasconcelos, at the Cancer Drug Resistance group of the Institute of Molecular Pathology and Immunology of the University of Porto (IPATIMUP/I3S).

In October 2021, she started her PhD at the Cancer Drug Resistance Group of the i3S.
